Once upon a time, the trekking route to the Lost City in the Sierra Nevada was all about the journey. Lush jungle, monkeys, toucans, crystalline rivers – and the smell, oh, the divine smell of nature! Over the last 10 years, logging and commercialisation along the route has meant the first portion of the hike had lost it’s magic and felt more ‘hot paddock walk’ than ‘awe-inspiring jungle adventure’.
The owners of Finca Las Agaus (Fredy Carvajal and Olivia Keogh) wanted to bring back the magic to the Lost City trek, so they decided to build a new farm-stay, create a fresh route through their jungle and employ members of the local community to provide a sustainable hospitality experience to trekkers from across the globe.
